An empowering engagement event designed to not only celebrate and support women in leadership roles, but to listen to their experiences running for office, navigating their positions of power, and shedding light on the challenges and opportunities they have encountered through their careers. Through lively and honest discussions, we aim to explore women’s complexities and unique obstacles in such roles while fostering connections through shared experiences to harness collective power to drive positive change.
Dr. Eileen Wirth, a professor emeritus of journalism at Creighton University, and author on Omaha and Nebraska history, will join us on BLUEBARN’s porch yard to share captivating stories from her book, “The Women Who Built Omaha.” Dr. Wirth will shed light on the remarkable women behind the founding or co-founding of iconic Omaha institutions like Creighton University, Joslyn Art Museum, Mutual of Omaha, Nebraska Furniture Mart, the Malcolm X Birth Site, and many more. Books will be available for purchase for $20 cash or check only. No cards.

Join us in conversation with Jo Giles, the Executive Director of the Women’s Fund of Omaha, who leads the organization’s work to address gender-based inequities in our community through collaboration that identifies, researches, and creates solutions to advance, educate, and fund lasting impact, speaks about local opportunities to protect, advance and advocate for gender equity. For more than 30 years, the Women’s Fund has been working on the most critical challenges facing those who experience gender-based oppression. These issues—economic security, freedom from violence, leadership, sexual literacy and reproductive health care—are complex but not unsolvable. Now is the time to challenge systems and create effective solutions. Together, we can create communities where everyone can reach their full potential.

For the run of POTUS, we will be hosting a voter registration table provided by the League of Women Voters! Their dedicated volunteers will be able to assist and answer any questions you may have about the registration process. Additionally, you’ll find informative materials on the table detailing where and how you can register to vote. Remember, voting is crucial, so stop by and learn how you can make your voice heard in the upcoming election!
This exhibit will be open to the public 45 minutes before each show and during box office hours Monday-Friday 10 am-4 pm in the BLUEBARN Lobby.

Returning to their lord’s castle, samurai warriors Washizu and Miki are waylaid by a spirit who predicts their futures. When the first part of the spirit’s prophecy comes true, Washizu’s scheming wife, Asaji, presses him to speed up the rest of the spirit’s prophecy by murdering his lord and usurping his place. Director Akira Kurosawa’s resetting of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth in feudal Japan is one of his most acclaimed films.

Lend thy ears and open thy hearts, for a night of merry-making awaits at our Shakespeare Trivia Night! “All the world’s a stage,” and on this night our stage (bar) shall be filled with laughter and camaraderie, as we engage in friendly rivalry. From star-cross lovers to mischievous fairies, we shall venture through the realm of the Bard’s timeless tales. Gather your wittiest comrades for the ‘game is afoot’, and only the sharpest minds shall emerge victorious. So ‘come what come may,’ ‘speak what we feel, not what we ought to say’, and embark on a night of merriment!
Entangled draws its inspiration from Shakespeare’s tragic masterpiece, Macbeth. This captivating exhibition delves deep into the intricately dark realms of a tormented psyche, entwined by overwhelming guilt and paranoia. Through its art, Entangled explores the exquisitely brutal essence of a mind ensnared in its own web of emotions and consequences.
